The Brazilian jewel spider, Typhochlaena seladonia, is a species of avicularine tarantula native to Brazil. It is the only arboreal spider to contstruct trapdoors from the bark of trees.

History

The legality of Typhochlaena seladonia in the hobbyist space is contested, as under the Lacey Act of 1900 it is illegal to import the species from Brazil.
